What We Do
How We Intend To Impact
Urban Youth + Communities Through Mentorship
We have four components to execute our mission of impacting urban youth through mentorship. We offer services and support resources to persons serving as mentors, youth workers, program staff, educators and practitioners through trainings, curriculums, consulting and support.
Urban Mentor offers professional development training for teams of Mentors, Youth Workers and Program Staff on a number of subjects including:
handling students who are dealing with traumatic backgrounds and circumstances
building effective Mentor-Mentee relationships
understanding urban youth and communities
Urban Mentor offers development consultation for:
- individuals seeking to create a program that will serve youth in an urban community
established programs looking to improve their current programming and curriculum.
Upon assessment, we will develop and improve programs targeting urban youth through consultation.
Our Curriculum Resources provide lesson and presentation curriculum for programs and leaders that serve urban youth. We've comprised a growing databank of media resources for lesson aid and construction.
Our Village Pillars component is a curation of resources and assistance for parents and guardians in urban communities.
Re-Engagement Workshops for parents of distracted* children.
Workforce Readiness for Parents and Guardians.
Workshops for understanding individual unique needs of your child; and the need for The Village in your child's life.
End of Life Planning (for Parents/Guardians and Youth Workers)
*Distracted is the word Urban Mentor chooses to use rather than labeling our youth as "delinquent".
